To the Deb's Web Community:
Many of you have worked with my husband Matt Langen or me (Jen Hope). Sadly, our current financial situation has made it so we can no longer afford to live in our apartment. We are probably going to be evicted sometime between December of this year and January of next year. We have only 800 dollars a month in unemployment, though I have the potential to make more if we can find a place to live where I can also continue to teach voice (students= extra money for rent).
As many of you know, it is very, very difficult to find a room or apartment when you are not employed, even harder so when you are a couple (why does nobody want couples?), and harder still when you have a cat and work mostly out of your home.
I have many pending contracts with Broadhollow which also bring in some money, though we owe a lot of it to LIPA and creditors and such. I guess we are not the ideal tenants for anybody but serious theatre lovers with some extra space and huge hearts.
I am hoping to find us a situation where Matt and I can continue to reside together with our extremely loveable cat Bigfoot, and where I can continue to teach my students so that I can offer more money as rent and continue to guide the careers of young artists on Long Island.
If that doesn’t work out, I am seeking a separate place to teach lessons hopefully close to wherever we might end up living, and maybe near a train? (I don’t drive and we don’t own a car anyway). The last thing I want to give up is our cat but we may also be seeking a loving foster home for him where he can remain an indoor cat.
What we can offer you: a wealth of theater resources including but not limited to over 500 musical theater scores and scripts, and a rabid knowledge of and passion for all things theater related, as well as free lessons (vocal, audition coaching, and if you want to learn how to use computer programs to edit and compile sound, we can help you there as well.) And an eternity of gratitude.
If this doesn’t work out, I still want to thank you for taking the time to read this, and I have enjoyed living and working here immensely.
Here’s hoping I won’t have to head for my friend’s garage in New Jersey, or back onto another minivan to tour the Midwest yet again (I love you Midwesterners, but if I have to spend even one more day surveying armadillo roadkill I may go mad!)
Much thanks,
Jen Hope, Matt Langen, and Bigfoot jenhopediva@yahoo.com

• Dedicated to preserving the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, this performance is the first ever by the Company and first staging of the work on Long Island.
• Written in 1874 and not revived, until 2007, “Sweethearts” was considered Gilbert’s best and most popular pre-Arthur Sullivan stage work.
• In his new performing version written for the Company, Phil Gellis has assembled appropriate music from the Gilbert and Sullivan canon to complement the stage action.
The Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island
Founded in 1954, the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island is one of the nation's oldest organizations devoted exclusively to the promotion and performance of the works of Gilbert & Sullivan. Our performers are all volunteers and come from every walk of life. While very different in many ways, they all have one thing in common: a passion to preserve and present these classic comic operas that has enriched and entertained generations of LI audiences.

Among these passengers are Bo, a young, headstrong cowboy, and Cherie, a sexy nightclub singer he met at the Kansas City rodeo. Set on taking her back to his ranch in Montana to marry her (despite the objections of the other passengers and the local sheriff), Bo is determined to get his way, resulting in various conflicts and some hilariously entertaining moments!

ONE PERSON'S (RE)VIEW
Scott Hofer at Synergy
Have to rave about Linda May appearing in Synergy Ensemble's production of Rabbit Hole as a woman coping with the loss of a child. First off what a great play. Right away when you hear what the show is about you steel yourself for a heavy evening. It was nothing like that at all, in many parts it was funny and tense and it never dissolved into a weepfest. I have to give credit to the director for keeping it from becoming maudlin-sorry I left my program at home, but great job to all the actors and the director and especially Linda May-great show and thanks for being a theatre unafraid to put a challenging show up. Kudos to all.
