Music Director/Pianist Donny Jones
has openings for new piano and vocal coaching students!
For piano students:
I studied piano performance at Interlochen Arts Academy, New England Conservatory, and LI University with some of the greatest pianists in the world including John Perry and Dr. Julia Bernstein. After college, I was lucky enough to be a keyboard sub in the B'way production of Wicked and then I went on to perform throughout NYC and the surrounding areas as a soloist. I've also spent the last couple years music directing at the John W. Engeman theater in Northport. I teach all styles of music and I have no problem teaching music that the student wants to play, but I'm a strong believer in a classical background.
For vocal coaching students:
I have worked as a resident accompanist at some of the best vocal studios in the world. I have music directed the casts of over 80 musicals (The last 8 shows I've done have all been with professional actors who are members of Actors Equity Association) and I even had the honor of accompanying opera superstar, Renee Fleming during a masterclass about 10 years ago. Some actors that I've coached who are now members of current B'way productions include Carey Brown and Mike McGowan (Ragtime), David McDonald (Bye Bye Birdie), and Jackie Burns (Hair). Please understand that I am not a voice teacher. I will help people who have taken lessons and know how to use their voice prepare music for performances, recordings, or auditions by showing you how to approach the song stylistically. It's not always just about hitting that high note, how you tell the story is (in most cases) even more important.
Please visit my website at www.donnyjonesonline.com for more information or email me at bwaypianist@yahoo.com for rates and slots available.
